LIFE OUT LOUD

THOUGHTS

My goodness, I miss you.

This year has been a whirlwind of change, transformation, growth, exploration, learning and big decisions. It’s included a lot of sitting in the middle of knowing and uncertainty. It’s required a lot of patience, surrendering and even more listening.

(thanks for the book recommendation, Jenny Glick)

For those of you who aren’t aware, we recently moved back to Denver and time has been this interesting concept to grasp. At times, it feels as though we never left and time just stopped. It didn’t though. There were just 3 moves, a pandemic and a few courageous decisions mixed in there and then we were back.

So much the same, yet all so different.

I haven’t led an in-person yoga class in nearly a year and while this is the longest I’ve gone since I began teaching in 2012, it doesn’t feel like it’s been that long. Do I miss it?Parts of it, without question. The relationships, the studentship, the connection. What’s next? I’m remaining curious and open to see how teaching shows up within this next chapter.

I see these transitions all around - we are all changed. We are different people than we were just 21 months ago. 21 months may see like such a short amount of time in comparison to a lifetime, but perspective: that’s 642 days ago since the world shut down; 15,000 hours ago; 923,000 minutes have passed.

Time - it’s a funny thing to acknowledge, I think.

Do we have the power to slow down time in the moments we want to cherish and speed up time in the moments we want to move through? Perhaps.

I think of this often, as I try to communicate the concept of time with my 4 year old. What does 10 minutes look like and feel like to him? He can’t yet tell time on a clock, so I wonder how we learn about the concept of time. Does it just come with time?

I hope you are well. I hope you are taking care of yourself and I wish you many blessings this holiday season.
